Better Choices, Better Health® Workshop

Location: Inn on Westport, 4000 S. Westport Avenue

Better Choices, Better Health® is a chronic disease self-management workshop designed for adults living with any chronic conditions.

This workshop will be presented on six consecutive Thursdays, from April 5 through May 10, with each session lasting 2 1/2 hours

Workshop topics include:

  • Managing pain, fatigue and stress
  • Tips for healthy eating
  • Personal exercise plans
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Medication how-to's
  • Dealing with emotions
  • Working better with your doctor and care team

Come celebrate the Midco Aquatic Center's First Birthday with a Water Carnival featuring games, prizes and lots of fun!

The birthday celebration will continue on Saturday, October 14 with a Flick & Float showing of Toy Story at 3 p.m., and Sunday, October 15 with a Wibit Event from 12 Noon until 5 p.m.

Paws in the Park

Paws in the Park

Location: Spencer Dog Park, 3501 S. Cliff Avenue

This dog-centered festival offers a chance for owners and pets to get together, socialize, and showcase their special canine talents. Fall-themed events will take place, including a dog costume contest. There will be vendor booths, music, contests and an agility course to test your dog's athletic abilities. Registration for the contests will begin at 12:30 p.m., with a limit of two judged contests per dog.

This event is FREE, and no pre-registration is required.

In case of inclement weather, the event will be held on Sunday, October 15, at the same time.

Birthday Party for the Midco Aquatic Center: Flick & Float

Location: Midco Aquatic Center, 1601 S. Western Avenue

We're celebrating the first birthday of the Midco Aquatic Center! Join us for this Flick & Float event featuring the movie Toy Story.

You can watch a movie in the 50 Meter Pool while floating on the water. Inner tubes will be provided. Participants need to have an active swim pass or pay daily admission rates.

Come back again on Sunday, October 15 for our Wibit Event!

All Things Wheels

All Things Wheels

Location: Morningside Community Center, 2400 South Bahnson Avenue

Start your engines and race over to Morningside Community Center for a fun morning or riding and racing. This class for ages 2-5  gets kids moving while they enjoy a ride on an age-appropriate vehicle. Take part in the obstacle course, some races and other fun activities...plus create a healthy snack for energy!  All vehicles will be provided.

What is Footgolf? It is the perfect combination of football, soccer and golf. This program will put your soccer skills to the test. This class is best for ages 6 to 17 years of age. Parents welcome.

Toddler Gym

Toddler Gym

Location: Kuehn Community Center, 2801 S. Valley View Road

These classes will introduce your child to basic movement skills and encourage them to work on hand/eye coordination and spatial awareness. Parachutes, balls and other fun activities will be used. The cost is $5 per class.

Outdoor Broomball (ages 10-17)

Location: Memorial Hockey Rink, West 26th Street and Sertoma Avenue

Take on this sport minus the ice! Participants will battle it out in the hockey rink before it becomes an ice rink. We'll bring the equipment, you bring your tennis shoes!  You'll test your speed and accuracy in a game that resembles hockey, but needs to be seen in person!

In case of inclement weather, this event will be rescheduled to Sunday, October 29 at the same time.
