National Bike to School Day

Wednesday, May 8, 2019 7:00am - 4:00pm

National Bike to School Day

Location: Schools Across the Sioux Falls Area

Encourage your kids to ride to school on May 8th!!

Bike to School Day connects communities with many issues such as creating safer and more friendly routes for biking and walking to school, building a sense of community or school spirit, and inspiring families to walk and bike to school more often. This year, Falls Area Bicyclists (FAB) invites you to take advantage of your  Bike to School event to talk about walking and biking safety for everyone.

A record setting 3,205 communities across the U.S. participated in National Bike to School Day last year....we'd love to see even more momentum this year!

Ride of Silence

Wednesday, May 15, 2019 7:00pm - 8:00pm

Ride of Silence

Location: Fawick Park

The Ride of Silence is an annual event to honor bicyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways. Although cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists, the motoring public often isn’t aware of these rights, and sometimes not aware of the cyclists themselves.

The Ride of Silence is a free ride that asks its cyclists to ride no faster than 12 mph, wear helmets, follow the rules of the road and remain silent during the ride. There are no registration fees. The ride aims to raise the awareness of motorists, police and city officials that cyclists have a legal right to the public roadways. The ride is also a chance to show respect for and honor the lives of those who have been killed or injured.

The ride is led by Falls Area Bicyclists.

The ride begins at 7 p.m. at Fawick Park.
