Public Encouraged to #Watch4Jerry in New Safety Campaign

Live Well Sioux Falls and Downtown Sioux Falls, Inc. (DTSF) encourage the community to #Watch4Jerry through a new safety campaign featuring an adorable pug named Jerry.

DTSF received a Neighborhood Project Grant from Sioux Falls Community Development to fund the campaign, says Brienne Maner with Downtown Sioux Falls. "The subject matter was developed through the input and concern of downtown residents in regard to pedestrian and bike safety. We are so grateful to the support of Community Development with this neighborhood association grant."

The video short stars local celebrity, Jerry the Pug.

Jerry’s owner Jolene Loetscher, Ellyn Suga and Etta from ShopDog, Chris Parsley from Falls Area Bicyclists and Isaac Show of the local band Later Babes, also appear in the video, which can be viewed at watch4jerry.org.

Knowing that the city is also committed to safe streets for all users, DTSF partnered with Live Well Sioux Falls to further promote the campaign.

"Safety messages are nothing new, and sometimes they can get a little lost in the media mix,” said Mary Michaels with Live Well Sioux Falls. “So, we wanted to develop a creative way to share an important message about how each of us, no matter the mode of transportation we use, can help keep our streets safe.”

The video campaign is being promoted through social media and websites and will also be shown as part of the DTSF Moonlight Movies series on Saturday nights at Fawick Park this summer. The public is encouraged to view and share online using #Watch4Jerry.

Window clings with the #Watch4Jerry logo will soon be available for downtown businesses and residents to put up in their windows to show their commitment to safe streets for everyone.
