Talk to Teens About Never Using Tobacco: E-cigarette use on the rise

According to the first-ever U.S. Surgeon General's Report on e-cigarettes, there has been a 900 percent increase in e-cigarette use among youth in past 5 years.  We wish that was a typo, but it is really 900 percent.

Effects of nicotine exposure can include addiction, reduced impulse control, deficits in attention and reasoning skills, and mood disorders. Teens exposed to nicotine also are more likely to become addicted to traditional cigarettes and other drugs, according to the report.

Read more about the report here: https://medlineplus.gov/news/fullstory_162443.html.

Talk to your teens. Tell them to never start using any form of tobacco.

If you, or someone you know needs help quitting tobacco, call the South Dakota QuitLine at 1-866-SD QUITS (1-866-737-8487).
