When we move, we can improve our health and reduce our risk for disease.
However, more than 80 percent of adults and young people do not meet the recommended levels of physical activity.
People who are not active are twice as likely to develop heart disease, are more likely to be overweight or obese and are more likely to have high blood pressure.
Sometimes, it is a challenge to be physically active. We are busy with work, family or other activities. We may not have access to convenient facilities or a safe environment
where we can be active. We may have other health conditions that make it more difficult to be active.
Live Well Sioux Falls and our community partners are working to build a healthy environment for physical activity. We want to ensure that kids can walk to school, that
bicyclists can ride safely through the city, that families have opportunities to be active together and that businesses encourage employees to move during the work day.
