The Big Squeeze Returns : Taking Control of Your Blood Pressure
Apr 01, 2025
High blood pressure is often called the "silent killer" because it has no symptoms but can lead to serious health issues like heart disease, stroke, and kidney damage. The good news? It’s manageable with early detection and healthy lifestyle choices. That’s why The Big Squeeze campaign is so important.
What is The Big Squeeze?
The Big Squeeze is a community-wide initiative aimed at raising awareness about blood pressure and encouraging people to get screened. Organized in partnership with local health organizations, The Big Squeeze provides free blood pressure checks at various locations throughout the region, making it easier than ever to take charge of your health. Though there has been a hiatus in hosting The Big Squeeze for the last several years, it's BACK!
Why It Matters
Nearly half of American adults have high blood pressure, yet many don’t even realize it. By offering free screenings, The Big Squeeze helps identify those at risk and connects them with resources to improve their health. Regular blood pressure checks are a simple yet powerful tool in preventing long-term health complications.
Where to Get Screened
Throughout the month, free blood pressure screenings will be available at multiple locations across the community. These include pharmacies, clinics, businesses, and community events. Please keep an eye on the website our the Sioux Falls Health Department Facebook page for any additions or changes to the event list:

- April 4th—Lewis Drug Southgate (2-4PM)
