Women’s Safety

The Soroptimist Club of Sioux Falls is sponsoring a free conference series designed to help people, especially women, learn more about important topics.
This session covers important information that women need to know when it comes to ensuring their own safety.

Youth Triathlon Training Days
Tuesday, August 2, 2016 10:00am - 12:00pm
Location: Kuehn Park and Pool
If you are planning on competing in the Youth Triathlon, or just want to learn what it’s all about, check out our training class. You can practice your swimming, biking, and running skills while getting tips on how to improve. The three-day, one-hour sessions run August 8th, 9th, and 10th, and the cost is $20 per person.
- Kids ages 6-9will come to camp from 10-11 a.m.
- Kids ages 10-18 will come to camp from 11 a.m.-12 Noon.
Snowfox Swim Team, Avera Sports Institute Tri Group, and Two Wheeler Dealer will be on site to assist with training. Bring your swimsuit, towel, bike, helmet, and running shoes each day. Two Wheeler Dealer will be at the training to help with free basic bike fits and bike safety checks.
- Tuesday’s class will focus on swimming and practice on transitioning to bike.
- Wednesday’s class will focus on bike etiquette, riding the bike route, and transitioning to the run.
- Thursday’s class will focus on transitioning from the bike and running the race route.

Kids Nite in the Park

Location: McKennan Park is located at East 26th Street and South Second Avenue.
Come and experience the beauty of McKennan Park while your kids have some fun also. Who would want to miss the fun of these events? Your family can enjoy a park full of old-time carnival games, inflatables, and summer fun. Bring your kids or "kid-like spirit". Kids' Night in the Park is free.
Activities include:
6-8 p.m. Youth art show and sale
6-8 p.m. Kids' carnival booths of skill and challenge throughout the park
7 p.m. Featured entertainment: Storyland Children's Theatre

Lacrosse Clinic

Location: Riverdale Park
Lacrosse is now being played in Sioux Falls, and is growing in popularity! The Sioux Falls Lacrosse organization will be teaching a clinic that will introduce you to the fundamentals of lacrosse. Come join the excitement of the fastest growing sport on TV and newest sport in town. Ages 10-17 years old.
The cost of the Lacrosse Clinic is $5 per person. Registration closes five business days in advance.

Teen Coed Kickball League
Wednesday, August 3, 2016 6:15pm - 7:15pm
Location: Morningside Park, 2400 S. Bahnson Avenue
Gather your friends and come play in our teen coed kickball league. Teams will play with ten players on the field, with five girls and five guys playing. This four-week league will be held on Wednesday nights beginning July 13. Game times are 6:15 and 7:15 p.m. The top two finishing teams will win T-shirts!
The cost is $20 per team. Register by Friday, July 1 by 5 p.m.

Bike MS: Sanford Health Sioux Falls Ride
Saturday, August 6, 2016 (all day)
Location: 8th and Railroad Center
The Bike MS: Sioux Falls Ride is a must-do for any South Dakota cyclist. More than 200 riders pick their own challenge — biking 20, 61 or 100 miles though southeastern South Dakota for one cause: a world free of MS.
The Start/Finish Location is 8th and Railroad Center in downtown Sioux Falls. The minimum age to ride is 12, and registration is $20 ($30 after June 1).

SEPR’s Run for the Pack

Sioux Empire Pit Rescue's (SEPR) 3rd Annual Run for the Pack is a one-mile walk and 5K run. New this year a 10K run!
Registration begins at 8 a.m., and Race Time is 9:00 a.m.

Terrace Park Centennial Sand Volleyball Tournament

Location: Terrace Park
Come celebrate the 100 years of Terrace Park in this sand volleyball tournament. This is a 6-team coed doubles elimination tournament, geared towards B-power teams. T-shirts will be awarded to the top two finishing teams. The cost is $60 per team.

Hooked on Fishing

Location: Family Park, 300 North Ellis Road, near West 12th Street on the Tea/Ellis Road
Fishing is a great way to relieve stress while spending time outdoors. Bring the entire family to Family Park for a fun-filled evening of fishing. Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation will provide all of the necessary equipment. A valid South Dakota fishing license is required for ages 16 and up. Registration required, and the cost is $5 per teen and $8 per adult.
