Kids Cross Country Meets

Kids Cross Country Meets

Location: Morningside Park 2400 South Bahnson Avenue

The Sioux Falls Area Running Club, along with Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation and Runner's Block, will host three kids cross-country meets this fall. The three-race cross-country series is for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. All meets will take place at Morningside Park at 33rd St and Bahnson Ave in Sioux Falls, next to Harvey Dunn Elementary School. Registration begins at 4 p.m. with races beginning at 4:30.

This activity is free.

If an ADA accommodation is needed, please contact the Human Relations Office at (605) 367-8745 or humanrelations@siouxfalls.org at least 72 hours before the event.

Light the Night Walk

Light the Night Walk

Location: Falls Park

Join the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in their mission to cure blood cancers.  This inspirational night includes food trucks and fun festivities for all ages, along with a powerful survivor ceremony. Walk with illuminated, symbolic lanterns ending with a spectacular fireworks show.

For the first-time in South Dakota, Light The Night will be in Sioux Falls at the #1 tourist attraction, Falls Park. 

Create a team or join a team today, and then gather with us on September 12 to celebrate, honor and remember those touched by cancer.

10:15 AM—Local Perspectives Panel providing information about the impact of opioids in the Sioux Falls community from the voices of public health, law enforcement and first responders, and an impacted family. Moderated by Angela Kennecke. 
11:15 AM— Closing Remarks, followed by a book signing with Sam Quinones.

Afternoon Session with Lunch
11:30 AM— Policy Approaches to Addressing Opioids Luncheon – Schulte Room
The afternoon includes a presentation by Jill Krueger, from the Network of Public Health Law, regarding state and local approaches to addressing opioids, as well as question and answer session with Jill Krueger and Sam Quinones.
1:55 PM—Closing Remarks.
2:00 PM—Event concludes.
