The Sioux Falls School District offers free developmental screenings for children from Birth to age Five who reside within the District's boundaries. We will check your child’s development in the areas of motor skills, concepts, and language. A free vision and hearing check will also be conducted.  

Screenings are done throughout the year from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.  We can also get your child registered for Head Start, if you meet eligibility requirements.

May 17: Maximizing Your Garden’s Abundance. Tips on maximizing a small space garden, including companion planting, succession planting, and trellising to make the most of the growing season.
June 21: Keeping Out Unwanted Guests. How to combat common pests and diseases in the garden.
July 19: Eating Locally, From the Garden and Beyond. Make the most of your summer garden abundance, shop the farmers' market, and other tips on increasing the amount of locally sourced food in your diet.
August 16: Seed Saving Techniques Part 1. Learn the wet seed processing method used for tomatoes, eggplant, and cucumbers. Bring a pint-size container and a tomato for a hands-on demonstration.
September 20: Seed Saving Techniques Part 2. Discussion on dry seed saving used for peas, beans, and herbs—plus a hands-on activity on cleaning and sorting seeds.

Location: Sanford Research Center - Sanford PROMISE Community Lab 2301 E. 60th Street North Sioux Falls, SD

How do our organs work to keep us alive and how can we keep them healthy? In this program, students will learn about the heart, lungs, and kidneys. They will dissect each organ, learn about the function, learn how to keep them healthy and learn about why researchers are interested in it.

Participants will need parental/guardian permission to participate in dissection and fitness activities.
