Adult Coed Kickball League

Wednesday, September 5, 2018 10:00am - 3:00pm

Adult Coed Kickball League

Location: Dunham Park

This is a recreational league. Teams will kick off the week of July 17 and will run for eight weeks, with play culminating in one all-day tournament.

Participants must be at least 18 years old and out of high school.

There is an Organizational meeting on June 20 at 6 pm at Morningside CC.

The cost for this activity is $75 per team.

Register online at www.siouxfalls.org/parks or by calling (605) 367-8222. Registration deadline is June 26 at 5 pm.

Location: Morningside Park 2400 South Bahnson Avenue

The Sioux Falls Area Running Club, along with Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation and Runner's Block, will host three kids cross-country meets this fall. The three-race cross-country series is for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. All meets will take place at Morningside Park at 33rd St and Bahnson Ave in Sioux Falls, next to Harvey Dunn Elementary School. Registration begins at 4 p.m. with races beginning at 4:30.

This activity is free.

Eating Healthy on a Budget

Location: Downtown Library, 200 N. Dakota Ave.

Want to eat healthier, but not sure where to start, or unsure if you can afford to eat healthier? If your answer is yes, then this class is for you! Join us for a class learning how to stretch your food dollars, while also making healthier choices for you and your family. We will learn more about nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices; simple ways to increase physical activity; attend a grocery store tour and learn ways to save money when purchasing groceries; learn about tasty, simple ways to prepare a variety of fruits and vegetables; and learn basic skills regarding cooking and food safety. In a fun, welcoming group environment, meet others who are experiencing similar struggles and challenges and learn how you can overcome those barriers. Every class includes cooking (and eating) a fun and tasty new recipe! Additional FREE healthy eating incentives provided for those who attend. Sign up today and take the first step to living a healthier lifestyle and reaching your nutrition and health goals! 

Note: This is a series of classes, so please try to attend all of them for the most beneficial experience! The class on September 13 will be a grocery store tour at Hy-Vee (1601 S. Sycamore Ave. Sioux Falls, SD 57110) all other classes are held at the SDSU Regional Extension Center.

Sanford Health Sioux Falls Marathon & Half Marathon

Sanford Health Sioux Falls Marathon & Half Marathon

Location: PREMIER Center

The 2018 Sioux Falls Marathon will feature a marathon, half marathon, and new in 2018 a 10K and 10K Team Challenge, as well as the Miracle 5K. In 2017, the Sioux Falls Marathon saw a record number of registrants for the second consecutive year with over 3,000 runners. The growth of the race has allowed the Sioux Falls Marathon to grow its partnership with Sanford Children’s Hospital/Miracle Network. Miracle 5K participants and the running community helped raise over $28,000 last year towards CMN, impacting many lives in the community.

At this FREE event, you will get the opportunity to pick fresh produce, help prepare a delicious meal with the items harvested, and share a meal in community and fellowship with others in attendance.
